The Team

The project is led by a Steering Committee consisting of  (in alphabetical order) Dr. David Este, Dr. Kenneth Fung, Dr. Sepali Guruge, Dr. Daniel Lai, Dr. Kwame McKenzie, Dr. Marina Morrow, Dr. Souraya Sidani and Dr. Josephine Wong.

The research team also includes co-investigators from the three provinces who represent key stakeholders including, researchers, clinicians, educators, immigrant men and women, family and community members, mental health, social and settlement service providers, and policymakers. Team members represent several disciplines: nursing, psychiatry, mental health, addictions, gender studies, social work, health equity, sociology, psychology, and criminology.

Together, the team has a history of engagement in men and boy’s health, immigrant’s health, mental health/ illness, and share a perspective that supports a gender and diversity-based approach to research.

Community Partner Agencies

Community agencies knowledgeable about, and interested in, reducing stigma of mental illness among Asian Communities in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver will join as Community Partner Agencies. They will provide support to the research team in project implementation, community engagement and in raising community awareness about addressing the stigma of mental illness.
